A friend indeed

I didn't realize how much an 'Internet' friend could mean so much to me. I mean, really if you never met the person how much could you really know them? or miss them since it really is only words that are written and I actually never met the person face to face. I found out this past weekend how much a good and dear Internet friend meant to me when I lost her to a tragic accident.

A long time friend died last Friday night while trying to save her puppy from drowing in a tank well in Iowa.

I 'knew' Marcia for about 6-7 years, and through those years as like many other people, we became close friends, chatting about this and that, not just dog events, but other things we had in common. She became a familar 'voice' to me on Fridays, when we would routinly exchange e-mails telling about our busy week gone by or the plans for the weekend ahead. We would laugh at each others comments about our dogs, our families and sometimes our relationships. We comforted each other when we were feeling low. I only talked to her once on the phone, and we never met.

One of the very last e-mails was mention of having to meet each other one of these days, now that will never happen. I will miss her, as she brought a little laughter to a chaotic day, she provided me with something to look forward to after a busy work week, and she was one of those friends that doesn't come along very often.
