Nifty

Sssshhhhh.... I have a secret.

No, I'm not the one turning 50, for pete sake, don't make me any older than I need to be, but I am married to guy who's turning 50 on Ground Hog's Day. ( We just celebrate the Ground Hog and forget the birthday part)

50 - wow.

Just think of it - how many times when you were a kid, you thought 50 was such an old/big number?

Or 50 was an old age to be - I mean shouldn't you be dead by 50?

I remember my Dad turning 50, I and at the time I thought I'd never turn 50, good thing everyone else around is, but I'm not - not yet anyway.

50 hmmmm yeah, now does anyone know how to get this blue food colouring off my fingers?

In Your back Pocket

If you visited before and don't know what type of dogs we own, they are English Shepherds.
They are a lovely breed, and yes, they are hairy monsters, leaving ball of downy fur all over the place, but they a lovely medium sized dog, with a mix of guard dog and herding dog.

They come with a list of their own set of breed traits, and of these traits is to follow you around - everywhere.

Quite often while I'm walking around outside, (or even inside for that matter) It never ceases to amaze me how they can make me feel os darn popular, and all I did was walk across the back yard ! Its like having my own personal entourage following me about - but it can be most annoying at times.

Why?

Well, for one thing, they *have* to go everywhere you go, and try their darnest to make sure they stick to you like glue. Some days its so bad it makes me feel like I'm living with stalkers. No privcy in the bathroom, pushing the door open "what you doin in there?" They get offended if you don't take them with you in the car, and they can't understand why you won't let them in when their feet are wet.

They are easy to loose because they are so clingy that quite often if I back up without looking, I'm sure to step on one of them. They have been told so often to "move" they probably think its a 'pet' name. However, when they do move, with mulitiple dogs, they just switch places.

They stick close to you no matter where you are - or aren't. I guess they are a breed that just is really bonded to the family and don't like to excluded from anything, even as boring as waiting around for office work to be completed.
At least they don't want your autograph, they rather sniff your crotch, or stick their nose up your bum while your putting your boots on - Oh they just did!

Thanks for stopping by, Barb

The Raccoon Tree

The Raccoon Tree has been a place to visit on our walks for about 10 years now. Every winter we would walk in the woods and the dogs would indicate to us whether or not there was 'life' in this tree. This winter Jon and I took a walk about a week ago and this is what we found.... Finally the hollowed out tree took a tumble from the strong winter winds we've been experiencing for the past couple of weeks now.

New Year - New Card

Hi Everyone,

Once again Happy New Year, this time I decided to post a Birthday Card I did for Jon's Mom. Her Birthday is coming up in a week or so, and I was going through some of my cash and scraps, and decided to make this. I always admire white cards, and it is so lovely with the falling snow today.

Enjoy, and thanks for Stopping by,

"Get Her" Soccer

Happy New Year, and it was such a beautiful morning I decided to do some chores outside.

One of the things my two dogs like to do when I go outside is play a game of "Get Her" Soccer. This game was created by my DH's old Border Collie, Chloe, who would stand there and bark, and then chase (Hence 'Get Her") the other dog while we threw the ball for her. This behaviour transferred over to Gyp when we got her, by watching what Chloe did with the other dog. When the ball retrieving duties were moved to Chloe, Gyp then took it upon herslf to appoint her new position of barking duties and chase.

Sandie is now the ball retrieving fool of the household and in the winter Gyp will play a soccer version of the "Get Her" game, Chloe taught her. This game is an intense stare down of Sandie, followed by a "Ruff!" and a bolt after Sandie as we kick the ball for her. Gyp then chases Sandie down to the ball, with another "Ruff" and sometiemsable to block the ball-catching attempt by using her body. Sandie then has to make a flailing attempt to snap at the ball as she darts by! Sandie turns around and pronks onto the non-moving ball, grips it in her mouth and trots or runs back to us. Gyp follows Sandie from behind, likes she's working her ,back towards us.

The whole things starts over again at the next kick.
Again, Happy New Year and thanks for stopping by.
